Hey, Equippers! Mike Brewer here.
I’m excited to kick off a brand-new series of teachings in The Equipper called THE LAWS OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE. These aren’t just lofty concepts; they are foundational truths that, when understood and applied, will enable you to prevail in every spiritual battle you face. But be warned—ignoring these laws invites the enemy to wreak havoc in your life, family, and even your community.
Let’s start this journey by delving into The Law of Knowledge.
The Law of Knowledge
Our anchor verse for this lesson comes from the sobering words of Hosea 4:6 (NIV):
"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children."
These words aren’t just for the Israelites of old—they are a clarion call for us today. When we lose our knowledge of God, we lose our footing in spiritual warfare. Darkness—where the enemy thrives—begins to encroach upon our lives. The enemy’s greatest tactic is to stay hidden, subverting God’s destiny for you, your family, and your region. But here’s the truth: If we break the Law of Knowledge, we open the door to spiritual defeat.
What Happens When We Lack Knowledge?
Hosea 4:1-6 paints a vivid picture of what happens when the knowledge of God is abandoned:
“Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: ‘There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea are swept away. But let no one bring a charge, let no one accuse another, for your people are like those who bring charges against a priest. You stumble day and night, and the prophets stumble with you. So I will destroy your mother—my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.’”
Let’s break this down: When knowledge of God diminishes, the moral fabric of society unravels. Faithfulness and love disappear, worship becomes hollow, and the land—symbolic of our lives and environments—begins to wither. This decay manifests in five destructive forces:
Cursing
Lying
Stealing
Murder
Adultery
And all boundaries are shattered, leading to bloodshed upon bloodshed.
The Battlefield of the Mind
The enemy knows that a mind devoid of God’s knowledge is a fertile ground for his work. Deception, destruction, and even death are the bitter fruits of ignorance in spiritual warfare. The Apostle Paul warns us in Romans 1:28 (NIV):
"Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done."
When we fail to retain God’s knowledge, we fall prey to distorted thinking, which leads to destructive actions. This is why the Law of Knowledge is so critical. It’s not just about knowing about God; it’s about knowing Him intimately and applying that knowledge to every area of our lives.
A couple of years ago, a precious man of God came to see me. As we began to talk, he shared about the pain of his childhood that had left deep emotional scars. As he shared, I felt his sincerity in forgiving his father who had hurt him so badly. As we continued to speak, I led him through renunciations for some of the generational issues I was discerning. Moments later, the demon Odin came forth, and we broke its assignment and cast it out. When peace filled his heart and the demon was gone, the minister looked at me and said, “I just didn’t know…I just had no idea!”
The Law of Knowledge is real. We are destroyed by a lack of knowledge.
My friends, you don’t have to wait years like my friend did. If you’re looking for practical ways to equip yourself and your family, I highly recommend exploring The Self Deliverance Guide. It’s designed to help you break free from the enemy’s strongholds and walk in the fullness of God’s truth.
The Impact on Your Family and Legacy
This isn’t just about you—it’s about your family and your legacy. When a mother or father is ignorant of spiritual warfare, the effects are immediate and devastating. I’ve seen it firsthand: a home filled with tension, rebellion, back-talking, and disobedience. These are not just “bad behaviors”—they are the symptoms of a spiritual battle that is raging unchecked.
Let’s reflect on a powerful scripture, James 3:16 (NIV):
"For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice."
Is there disorder in your life? Your home? Your business or ministry? Disorder is a sign that the enemy is at work, and it often stems from a lack of knowledge. But here’s the good news: this is not your permanent state. You can change the atmosphere of your home, church, and community by growing in the knowledge of God.
Action Steps to Grow in Knowledge
So, how do we safeguard ourselves against the enemy and ensure we are living according to the Law of Knowledge? Here are some action steps to help you grow:
Daily Study of God’s Word
The Bible is your primary source of knowledge. Set aside time each day to read, meditate, and study scripture. Start with verses that speak directly to spiritual warfare, such as Ephesians 6:10-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, and Psalm 91. Write them down, memorize them, and let them saturate your mind and heart.Pray for Wisdom and Revelation
James 1:5 (NIV) promises us: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Prayer is the gateway to divine wisdom. Ask God daily to open your eyes to His truth, to give you understanding of His ways, and to reveal the hidden schemes of the enemy.Engage in Spiritual Disciplines
Fasting, worship, and fellowship with other believers are essential in fortifying your spiritual knowledge. These disciplines help you stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth (John 16:13).Seek Godly Counsel
Proverbs 15:22 (NIV) tells us: “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Surround yourself with mature believers who can offer wisdom, guidance, and support as you grow in your knowledge of spiritual warfare.Be a Lifelong Learner
Never assume you’ve “arrived” in your spiritual knowledge. The more you know, the more you realize how much you still need to learn. Proverbs 1:5 (NIV) encourages this mindset: “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.” Make it a habit to read books, listen to sermons, and engage in discussions that challenge and expand your understanding.Let Me Mentor You

Building a Legacy of Knowledge
Imagine the impact on your children and grandchildren if you begin to prioritize growing in the knowledge of God today. You’re not just protecting yourself—you’re establishing a legacy of wisdom and spiritual strength that will bless generations to come.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NIV) gives us this command:
"These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
God’s Word is not just for you—it’s a heritage to be passed down. By embracing the Law of Knowledge, you are ensuring that your children will walk in the light of God’s truth and not fall prey to the darkness that so easily ensnares.
Take Action
I want to leave you with this: Take action today. Don’t wait until the enemy has a foothold in your life, your family, or your community. Start building your knowledge of God and His ways. Equip yourself with His truth, and you will see the power of God manifest in every area of your life.
Remember, knowledge is power—but only when it’s applied. So, apply what you learn, stay vigilant, and watch as God brings victory in your spiritual battles.
Until next time, stay equipped and stay in the fight!
