Hey, Equippers! Mike Brewer here.
The Value of Connection
One of the greatest gifts we have in the Kingdom of God is the power of connection. Whether we connect with God through prayer, connect with His Word, or connect with other believers, our spiritual journey is not meant to be walked alone. In a world that often promotes isolation and independence, the Bible encourages us to stay connected—to God, to His purposes, and to one another.
As Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIV) says: "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."
This powerful truth reminds us of the value of spiritual partnership. Alone, we may falter, but together, we can thrive.
Connection in Scripture
The importance of connection is woven throughout Scripture. From the early church described in Acts 2:42-47, where believers gathered daily, sharing meals and worship, to Jesus’ deep relationships with His disciples, we see the power of community in shaping spiritual growth.
Jesus said in John 13:35 (NIV), “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
This love for one another is expressed through connection, care, and support. It’s not just about being together physically but being united in heart and purpose.
In Hebrews 10:24-25 (NASB), we are reminded not to neglect gathering together: “And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
The Role of Community in Spiritual Growth
True spiritual growth rarely happens in isolation. When we are connected with others in an authentic equipping community, we are sharpened, encouraged, and held accountable. Proverbs 27:17 (NIV) states, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” God’s design is for believers to build one another up, offering wisdom, prayer, and support during every season of life.
But it’s not just about receiving; connection is also about contributing. Every believer has unique gifts and experiences to offer. The body of Christ is healthiest when all members are engaged, each bringing their strengths to support the whole (1 Corinthians 12:12-14). Your voice, your testimony, your presence matters in the lives of others.
Authentic Connection: Beyond Surface-Level Relationships
In a time when social media gives us an illusion of being connected, many people are hungering for real, authentic relationships. Superficial connection is easy; it doesn't demand vulnerability or effort. But true biblical connection requires us to go deeper, to be real with each other, and to walk together through the challenges and joys of life.
James 5:16 (NIV) encourages us to, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” True connection brings healing, not just to our bodies, but to our souls. When we are honest with one another and seek prayerful support, we step into the light and experience God’s transforming power.
The challenge is creating spaces where these kinds of relationships can grow. That’s why building an authentic community around mutual growth and equipping is essential.
A Prophetic Insight into a Greater Community
I feel a sense of prophetic insight into the potential of a conversational community that will release a greater impact. I’m reminded of the early days when we were launching international church planting movements. Some of the greatest insights I ever received didn’t come from formal meetings, but from sitting around fireside chats high upon a mountain in Haiti.
Those conversations with fellow leaders were real and raw—open, honest, and spirit-led. No one person had all the answers, but together, we sought God for His leading. And in those moments of shared vulnerability and hunger, the Holy Spirit brought clarity and direction. That’s the kind of community I believe we can create together—where we can engage in authentic dialogue and lean into the wisdom that comes from seeking God as one body.
The Equipper Community - Is it possible?
While The Equipper Community is not yet a reality, I’m curious to see if this is something you would support if it were developed. My desire is to create a place where you can share your journey, where we can come together to encourage one another and walk side by side in our faith.
This community wouldn’t be about content or lessons. Instead, it would be a space for conversations, where your testimony, your experiences, and even your questions can inspire and equip others. It’s a place for genuine connection—where we can celebrate victories, pray through challenges, and learn from each other’s walk with Christ.
Galatians 6:2 (NIV) encourages us to “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” That’s the vision for The Equipper Community—an authentic place where we can share, listen, and grow together as we pursue the purposes of God.
A Moment of Connection
When Andrea and I first stepped into missions, there were moments where the path felt uncertain and the challenges overwhelming. But it was the strength of community that carried us through. Fellow believers, through prayer, words of encouragement, and even just a shoulder to lean on, helped us stay grounded in the mission God had called us to. That’s the power of authentic connection—it’s not just about what you receive, but how we can stand together, equipped and empowered to fulfill our Kingdom assignments.
Take a Step Toward Connection
Today, I want to challenge you to take a small step toward deeper connection. Reach out to someone—perhaps a friend, a fellow believer, or even someone you’ve lost touch with. Offer a word of encouragement, share what God has been doing in your life, or simply ask how you can pray for them. This small act can be the spark that ignites deeper, meaningful relationships that glorify God.
I See A Vision Forming
I believe we are at a crucial time when more and more believers are feeling isolated or disconnected from genuine spiritual communities. Yet, there’s a hunger—people want to grow, be challenged, and be equipped to live out their faith boldly.
That’s why I’m considering launching something new: The Equipper Community.
This is not a Facebook community. It is not a course.
The Equipper Community will be an authentic, conversational space where you can connect with other believers around the world who are committed to spiritual growth, strategic insights, and deepening their walk with Christ. A place where you can ask questions, share wisdom, and receive regular teachings to equip you for spiritual warfare, intercession, and Kingdom leadership. We’d focus on equipping each other to fulfill our God-given callings.
